SANJOSE will Carry Out Essential Works for Phase I of PowerCo Gigafactory (Volkswagen Group) in Sagunto, Valencia

The Industrial Engineering and Construction Division of SANJOSE Constructora, in joint venture with FCC Industrial, has been awarded the works for Phase I of the PowerCo gigafactory (Volkswagen Group) in Sagunto. These works include the execution of electromechanical and plumbing installations in 5 buildings (FIDIC Red) and the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) for the installation of climate control production facilities (FIDIC Silver) at the Energy Centre.

Within the battery manufacturing plant in Sagunto, the contracted works and activities are essential and key to the development of the facility itself. This factory, currently being developed in its first phase, covers an area of over 250,000 square metres, positioning itself as one of the largest battery manufacturing plants in Spain and among the most important in Europe.

The activities to be carried out include the entire production of cold and chilled water, which serves the entire industrial process, as well as Medium and Low Voltage installations for battery production, alongside conventional electromechanical installations (Fire Protection, PA system, ventilation, extraction, Nitrogen, compressed air, Helium, and other gases). The works also involve the supply and installation of auxiliary facilities for all contractors.

The plant is designed for two additional expansion phases similar to the current contract.

The Industrial Engineering and Construction Division of SANJOSE Constructora strengthens its position in the automotive sector through this contract, a sector in which it has been working for over 15 years with manufacturers such as the Volkswagen Group and other leading European brands. It also reinforces its industrial activity as one of the main pillars of growth for Grupo SANJOSE, adding this significant project to other landmark works recently completed, such as the world’s largest PV plant within an airport complex in Barajas, and the full installation works of the Pajares tunnels in the transport sector.
